The 7th Annual (2010) Masters Tournament Pool

Welcome back golf fans and thanks for joining me again for the 7th annual AugustaPool. Assuming you haven’t been living under a rock since last Thanksgiving, then you know the 2010 Masters is shaping up to be a bit of a circus.  Good or bad, I think it will only add to the excitement for me, at least.  As many of you know, I go nuts for Masters Week.  As one pool particpant mentioned to me in a recent email, “It’s better than Christmas”.  I couldn’t agree more.

And with Tiger making his big return, it’s like finding out your favorite crazy uncle that tells the dirty jokes is joining your for the holidays.  You’re not sure what’s going to happen after that 5th glass of eggnog, but the gifts will be good, you’re going to have a great time, and there will be lots of stories to tell many years from now.  So, welcome back Tiger and welcome back everyone to the AugustaPool.  It’s going to be a another great year at this Georgian cathedral of green, Augusta National.  Ahhh, the golf season has begun.

The Details

So, here's the deal, once again I'm hosting a little betting pool to add a little excitement to this year's Masters.  Nothing serious.  Just some friendly wagering.  The rules are simple, the entrance fee just a measly $25, I do all the work, and all you have to do is check back to the leaders page each night to see how your fantasy team is doing.  You can even pay your entrance fee with a credit or debit card.

The Highlights

As usual, I continue to refine the site and make things as smooth as possible and more enjoyable:

  • Real-time scoring updates:  OK, maybe not "real" time but a little more than once a day.  And hopefully every few minutes during Sunday's final round (UPDATE 4/4/10:  Just found out my dream has come true and I'll be attending The Masters this year on Saturday and Sunday; so, unless Augusta National changes their policies on allowing cell phones and computers, I'll only be able to make the updates at the end of the day after I leave the grounds.  Sorry!)
  • Full team data:   Just click on any team in the leaderboard for full team make-up, round-by-round scoring for each player, day-by-day rankings, etc.  By the way, I changed hosting providers this year so hopefully all my database "bugs" will be a thing of the past.
  • Archives:  Review past year's winners, their teams, and how they found their way to the top of the leaderboard.
  • AugustaPool.com goes mobileNow get current scores right from your web enabled mobile phone.
  • Music, Videos, Jokes?:  Well, I finally found the piano riff they play during the Masters telecast.  Ahhh, so nice!  And how about Tiger's chip-in on 16?  Or Carl Spackler's "Cinderalla story"?  Favorite jokes?  It's all here this year.

Get Started Now

If you're interested, take a few minutes now to read the rules, pick your team, and sit back and enjoy The Masters.  I guarantee it will make this historic tournament more enjoyable and memorable.
